Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup rolled oats

  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp sugar

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water and honey; sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together rolled oats, flour, salt, and sugar.
  3. Add the activated yeast mixture and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients; stir until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan. Let rise again for 30 minutes.
