Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz spaghetti or penne
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Boil salted water in a large pot. Add pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente (about 8-10 minutes).
  2. Sauté Garlic and Tomatoes: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant, then add cherry tomatoes and cook for about 5 minutes until softened.
  3. Add Flavor: Stir in red pepper flakes and combine well with the garlic and tomatoes.
  4. Combine: Drain pasta, reserving half a cup of pasta water. Add drained pasta to the skillet, tossing everything together. Gradually add reserved pasta water until desired sauce consistency is reached.
  5. Finish: Remove from heat and stir in fresh basil and grated Parmesan until the cheese melts into the pasta.
  6. Serve: Plate the dish while warm, garnishing with extra parmesan and basil if desired.
