  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, cream softened butter with brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Gradually combine dry ingredients with wet ingredients, stirring gently until just mixed.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if desired.
  7. Drop tablespoon-sized dough onto prepared sheets, leaving space between each ball.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden but centers remain soft. Cool slightly before transferring to wire racks.
