  • 6 medium fresh apples (Granny Smith recommended)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Toppings (optional): chopped nuts, sprinkles, crushed cookies

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly, removing any wax.
  2. Insert wooden sticks into the cores of each apple.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir until dissolved and boil without stirring until it reaches 300°F (150°C).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in food coloring if desired.
  5. Dip each apple into the hot syrup, allowing excess to drip off.
  6. Place coated apples on parchment paper to cool completely; decorate with toppings while warm.
