  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup whole milk

  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • 2 tbsp custard powder (or cornstarch)
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 8 oz bittersweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  2. In another bowl, mix milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth. Gradually add to dry ingredients while stirring gently.
  3. Divide batter into two greased 9-inch round cake pans. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. While cakes cool, prepare the custard by whisking custard powder with sugar in a saucepan. Gradually stir in milk over medium heat until thickened.
  5. For the ganache, heat heavy cream in a saucepan until simmering; pour over chocolate chips and stir until smooth.
  6. Assemble the pie by layering one cake with half the custard filling, topping with the second layer, and pouring ganache over the top.
