Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar (plus extra for sprinkling)
  • 3 medium apples (2 Granny Smith, 1 Honeycrisp), peeled and sliced
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 46 tbsp ice water
  • Egg wash (optional): 1 egg mixed with 1 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Cut in the chilled butter until crumbly. Gradually add ice water until dough forms. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Make the Filling: While dough chills, combine sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Roll Out Dough: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll chilled dough into a 12-inch circle on a floured surface.
  4. Assemble Galette: Transfer dough to parchment-lined baking sheet. Arrange spiced apples in the center, leaving a 2-inch border. Fold edges over filling.
  5. Bake: Brush edges with egg wash if desired; sprinkle with sugar. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
