Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz spaghetti or fettuccine
  • 1 lb shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pasta: Boil salted water and cook spaghetti or fettuccine according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve some pasta water before draining.
  2. Sauté shrimp: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Cook shrimp for about 3-4 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp from the pan.
  3. Create the cream sauce: In the same skillet, sauté minced garlic until fragrant (about 30 seconds). Add heavy cream and simmer until slightly thickened.
  4. Add Parmesan: Whisk in grated Parmesan cheese until melted. If too thick, add reserved pasta water to achieve desired consistency.
  5. Combine: Return shrimp to the skillet and add drained pasta. Toss everything together until well coated.
  6. Garnish: Sprinkle with chopped parsley and red pepper flakes before serving.
