Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 lbs ripe tomatoes (or two 28 oz cans of San Marzano tomatoes)
  • 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

  4. Reduce heat to low and allow the sauce to simmer uncovered for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens.
