  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) San Marzano tomatoes
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Pour in the canned tomatoes with their juices and crush them slightly with a wooden spoon. Simmer for about 15 minutes.
  3. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir well and adjust seasoning as needed.
  4. Just before serving, mix in the torn basil leaves to release their oils.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in grated Parmesan until melted and creamy.
