  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two heart-shaped pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together cake flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder (if using).
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time followed by vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually mix in dry ingredients alternating with milk until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow cakes to cool completely before frosting with your choice of icing.
